Swipes, taps and shortcuts
Most lists in SailStats hide their most useful action behind a swipe. Swipe a row right for its main action — rename a session, duplicate a race, edit a mark. Swipe left to delete or exclude. Long-press a dashboard tile to edit or remove it.

The pattern is consistent once you know it: right is constructive — rename, edit, duplicate, save — and left is destructive — delete, remove, exclude. If you are hunting for an action on a list, swipe the row right first.
The three most useful ones
- Duplicate a race. Swipe a race right. You get the entire course, marks and all, ready for next week. Setting up a series race becomes a two-second job instead of a five-minute one.
- Save a mark to the library. Swipe a mark right. Club marks never move, so entering one twice is wasted effort.
- Rename a session. Swipe a session right. “Wednesday Twilight, big kite” is findable in March; “12 Aug 2026” is not.
Things people miss that are not gestures
- The segmented bars. Track splits into Map and Sessions; Racing splits into Start Line and Races. There is more behind those than the first screen suggests.
- Three start screens. Swipe between the planning board, the numbers view and the line visualisation. Most people find one they read much faster than the others.
- Raw Data. Under Settings → Diagnostics. If a channel is not showing up, this tells you whether the sentence is arriving at all — which settles “is it the app or the boat?” immediately.
- High-visibility mode for sunlight.
- Per-tile options — tack colours and chart fill are set per tile, not globally.
- Session tags. Tag by boat, by sail, or by series, then filter the list by them and read the summary across whatever you filtered to.
Is this list current?
It was checked against the shipping app when it was written, and it is re-checked at each release. If you find a gesture that does something different from what is written here, please tell us — that is either a documentation bug or a real one, and both are worth knowing about.
